In Her Shoes

The YWCA of Trinidad and Tobago In Her Shoes exhibition is a 'Trinbagonian' adaptation of the YWCA Scotland's 104 Pairs of Shoes exhibition. It interactively showcases images, messages and stories on violence against women and children, with pairs of shoes strategically positioned to depict the "walk in her shoes" in solidarity with many who suffer or who have lost their lives to violence.

World YWCA Day is celebrated annually on April 24 and is an opportunity for YWCA's around the world, to commemorate the history of this special movement.

Since 2003, YWCA's around the world, country to country, continent to continent have participated in the World YWCA Round the World Breakfast. The theme this year is "I am a woman, I have the right; We are women, we have the power". On Sunday April 21st 2013 YWCA Trinidad and Tobago joined the 24 hour world celebration of women's leadership and the work of the YWCA, at the Round-the-World Breakfast at Vie de France Maraval, to commemorate World YWCA Day on April 24th, 2013. President of YWCATT, Mrs. Phillipa Forde, who hosted the event, gave the welcome address with a focus on our vital role in the global movement against gender based violence. In attendance were President. of the World YWCA - Dr. Deborah Thomas-Austin, a member of the YWCA St. Vincent, members of local associations, D Zone and their families. We were treated to fabulous food and enjoyed a fun activity celebrating our Human Rights as women.
